Speakers are arranged in this listing by Career Pathways, which are groupings of careers that have similar requirements and competencies. Listings include name, address, phone, fax, and e-mail (where available), business and area of expertise. Some names may appear in more than one pathway where there is multiple expertise or career categories overlap.
Make contact directly with the speaker of choice 3 or 4 weeks in advance of a desired classroom visit.
Print and complete the Speaker’s Information & Confirmation form and the presentation suggestions. Mail or fax it to your speaker with driving directions or a map to your school.
Be sure to inform your building principal and office staff about plans for the speaker’s visit.
Please honor a speaker’s valuable time by staying in touch concerning any last minute changes (snow days, illness, etc.)
Select a student from your classroom to greet the speaker in the office 5 minutes before class time, to escort your guest to your room.
Share Your Expertise!
Are you willing to share your expertise with the students in Shiawassee County? As part of the effort to connect the county schools with the area businesses and to assist in creating career awareness opportunities for our students, the Career Preparation System of Shiawassee County is updating the Classroom Speakers Directory for the Kindergarten-12th grade Shiawassee County classrooms.
We want to print your name, company address, phone number, fax and email address in the Classroom Speakers Directory along with other area professionals who have agreed to speak to area Kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms about their business expertise. The catalog will be organized into six career pathways.
By saying yes, you agree to be contacted by area teachers and speak up to three times annually as one of our Career Preparation System business speakers. The arrangements will be made between you and the teacher. You are welcome to make arrangements that are within your schedule or to say no if it is not convenient.
This is a continuing service of the Career Preparation System of the Shiawassee Regional Education Service District and the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce and we would appreciate including you in this program.
