SCHOOL COUNSELOR INFORMATION

Dear High School Counselor, Social Worker or Special Education Teacher:

The Shiawassee Regional Education Service District (SRESD) is anticipating being awarded a federal grant to operate a Youth Employment and Training Program through Career Alliance Inc.  If you feel a student of yours would benefit from participating in our program and they meet eligibility criteria they must call us if they wish to participate. We will put them on a waiting list and notify them by phone.

We cannot determine how many participants will be selected until we see the specific requirements of the grant. Our plan would be to take them on a first come, first serve basis.

The students must meet eligibility requirements to participate and be 14-18 years old. We plan to offer the students employment and training by working in positions such as assembly, maintenance, clerical or program aides, just to name a few. There will a mandatory orientation session for the student and if they are under 18 a parent or legal guardian must attend with them.

We appreciate your assistance in matching eligible youth with this fantastic opportunity.

To be eligible for the WIA Youth Employment and Training Component you must meet the following requirements:
