Are you looking for classes for Parents?

Love and Logic – a FREE five-week program for parents and other caregivers of children from Birth – 6 years. This program is about “raising responsible children using a win/win philosophy.” Find specific answers and actions for some of those difficult moments of child rearing. When the program is introduced early in a child’s life, there is a greater opportunity for increased readiness for school as well as a better chance for success in the teenage years.  For further information or to register call Kim St. Cyr at 989-743-3471, ext. 2207.

Shiawassee County Collaborative Early Childhood Conference – This half-day conference is held yearly, typically in March.  It will be held at Baker College Welcome Center in Owosso.  It is a collaborative effort of the entire early childhood community in Shiawassee County. It is designed for:
  • Childcare providers
  • Parents of children birth to five years of age and other adult family members (scholarships available)
  • Preschool teachers and staff
  • Human service agency staff who work with families with young children 

The registration fee is always kept low and scholarships for parents of children birth to five are often available.

Are you looking for FREE preschool options?

Shiawassee County has two different free preschool programs for children three and/or four years of age. In order for children to attend these programs the child and family must meet the eligibility requirements.

GREAT START READINESS PROGRAMS (GSRP) formerly known as Michigan School Readiness Program provides preschool to children who are 4-years old by Dec 1 that meet eligibility criteria. 
HEAD START provides preschool to children who are 3 before Dec 1 of current school year AND MUST NOT turn 5 prior to Dec 1 of current school year to be eligible.
