CTE Welding
Shiawassee RESD's Career and Technical Education Welding Program
Course Description
Students in the Welding program will be introduced to welding theory, welding safety, proper use of tools and equipment, and perform routine, predictable, repetitive practices in a handful of different types of welding, including stick, MIG and TIG welding, in various positions. Upon completion of this program, students may earn an American Welding Society SENSE certificate and wallet card. These certificates and wallet cards have unique codes that prospective employers can use to verify credentials with the American Welding Society. Classes held at Baker College in Owosso.
This is a State-approved CTE Program.

Program Prerequisites
Students must have completed the 10th grade of high school and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students must be 16 years of age or turn 16 in grade 11 and complete the RESD orientation. Year 2 students must be in good academic standing to enroll.
High School/College Credits
Students who successfully complete Welding will earn high school credit and will also have the opportunity to earn articulated college credit.
