Community Service Resources
This guide was designed to help you find community service sites quickly and easily. The information contained within this guide is meant to be a valuable asset in your search for places to volunteer. However, if you don’t know how to use this asset, the information will be of no use! Here are some tips on how to go about searching for a site to do your community service at:
- When you contact a business, introduce yourself, explain why you are calling, and ask if they have a need for your help.
Use the following checklist to make sure you have all the information you need to get to work on time:
- Do you know where you’re going? Be sure to get the address and directions on how to get there.
- Do you have transportation? Consider asking parents, friends, or scheduling a ride with SATA.
- What time do you have to be there? Make sure to arrive 5-10 minutes early if possible.
- What days will you be working? Write this down on your calendar to help you remember, especially if they won’t need you for a couple weeks.
- What should you wear? Ask, “what should I wear?” Be sure to dress for the weather!
- After completing your service at a business, send them a Thank You card to let them know you appreciate the opportunity they have given you.
